“Fashion is the armor to survive
the reality of every day life.”
When Bella of the Citizen Rosebud announced that the Bill Cunningham documentary had made its way to her town, I was immediately drawn with feelings of jealousy. I was so distraught that it had gotten to Sacramento and not Miami. Well… I was a little early in my response because tonight it premieres at the O Cinema!
I’ve never been so excited for a documentary. Ok, I lie. I was just as excited for “Valentino: The Last Emperor.” After watching the trailer for Bill Cunningham, I realized that we both have something in common — our dedication to our career/success has contributed to the state of being alone, or friend-less, but I prefer to use the term “Soloist.”
I can’t wait to learn more about this fascinating 82-year-old photographer. After all, he practically saw my idol, Anna Wintour (duh!) grow up. And his bff’s seem to be Anna Piaggi and Iris Apfel. (I die!) I bet Bill would love my catch-phrase: After all, fashion is a spectator sport.
Has the documentary made it to your town yet? I’d love to hear some feedback about the film. I’m planning on watching it this weekend. I’ll be sure to let you all know how it was.
